Electricity Rates Update – May 2017

Since our last wholesale rate update on May 8, electricity rates dropped between 3 and 6 % in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria. Rates in South Australia increased by 0.63% over the previous month. Prices are still up by between 117 and 213% when compared to 24 months ago.

Australia also registered a record year for energy generated from renewable sources in 2016. The Clean Energy Council reported that new investments in 2017 will account for more than half of what is needed for Australia to meet its 2020 renewable energy target.
